THE TAKEAWAY

Relevance needs a connected journey: an explainable audience, a useful message, the right destination, and a measure that answers the campaign objective.

The decision this guide helps you make

What can enterprise account teams learn from Zepto’s segmentation and conversational campaigns?

You will leave with: A decision worksheet comparing audience logic, message and destination, measurement, with evidence and an accountable next step.

The published cases and their boundaries

This is Outsell’s independent analysis of public material from AppsFlyer and Google. We did not run the campaigns and have no access to Zepto’s internal data. The cases concern consumer commerce; their outcomes are not ABM benchmarks. The value for an enterprise team lies in examining the delivery mechanics and designing a suitable test, rather than assuming the same commercial effect.

What AppsFlyer reports

AppsFlyer describes Zepto combining campaign-attribution data with CRM data, automating audience creation, and using OneLink to route users to an app store or relevant in-app destination. It reports a 35% increase in remarketing conversions, a 40% reduction in cost per reinstall over six months, and a 15% improvement in D30 retention. The public story does not provide an experimental control or sufficient underlying data to independently reproduce those results.

What Google reports

Google’s RCS story describes a Raksha Bandhan flow using four questions to produce more than 50 personalised gift recommendations, with carousels and deep links. Reported outcomes include doubled engagement, 30% journey completion leading to purchase, and a 10% increase in incremental app traffic. These are results from that campaign, not a guarantee for another brand or channel.

Outsell analysis: segment for the next useful action

For ABM, the practical unit is usually an account and its buying group. Create segments only when they change the next message or action. An active opportunity needs a different experience from an unexplored account; an existing customer considering expansion needs different proof again. Record why a segment exists, the evidence that places an account in it, and what removes it. Otherwise automation makes a weak category more efficient without making it more relevant.

A useful account-state record includes the account identifier, current relationship, known roles, evidence recency, approved message version, and responsible sales owner. Resolve conflicts before activation: a campaign signal must not override a seller’s active conversation. That record is an architectural recommendation from Outsell, not a description of Zepto’s internal data model.

Outsell analysis: preserve context at the destination

An enterprise buyer who responds to an integration message should find an integration brief, validated technical proof, and a sensible discovery step. A generic homepage forces them to reconstruct the context. Audit each touchpoint as a contract: what did the message promise, what does the destination deliver, and what can the buyer do next?

Use buyer questions to collect voluntary context rather than manufacturing a hidden intent score. A short diagnostic can ask about the business problem, integration constraints, and evaluation stage, then explain why a particular asset is relevant. Request information only when it improves the result. Offer a path for someone who is still researching and does not want to speak to sales.

Build an enterprise pilot and evaluate it

Choose one account cluster, one buyer question, and one useful destination. Define qualified engagement before launch. Measure whether the journey reaches the intended roles, whether they use the asset, and whether the receiving seller accepts the handoff. Keep known contact activity separate from anonymous account-level activity. Compare the starting relationship state and document accounts that did not respond.

If you test two approaches, keep the account-selection and follow-up rules consistent. Capture approval work and production cost alongside responses. A higher click rate with a less useful sales conversation is a reason to inspect the message and destination, not automatically to increase spend. Use the downloadable worksheet to specify the segment, promise, destination, owner, and review decision.

What would change our conclusion

A credible transfer to enterprise ABM would require your own account-cohort evidence. Request metric definitions, attribution windows, baseline periods, and a comparison design before presenting a causal claim. Vendor-selected success stories can reveal useful mechanisms while leaving alternative explanations unresolved. Our recommendation is to test the journey logic within your sales motion and retain the parts that improve a buyer’s decision. No Zepto result should appear in an Outsell client-results section.

Your next-action checklist

  • Audience logic: Document the segment rule and exclusions. Check the limitation: behaviour does not prove buying readiness.
  • Message and destination: Inspect the asset and next step together. Check the limitation: a click does not establish usefulness.
  • Measurement: Agree your baseline and account response definition. Check the limitation: vendor outcomes do not transfer automatically.

Use the comparison to choose a bounded next step. Record the evidence, the responsible owner, and the review decision before extending the play to additional accounts.

How to use the evidence

Read each reference against the claim it supports. Platform documentation describes capabilities; public cases report a publisher’s experience; research findings apply to the studied task and population. The workflow in this guide is an operating proposal to evaluate in your own account context.
